Meet your instructor.

Vince Sykes started playing piano and guitar in grade school. By 8th grade, guitar had become his primary instrument. He continued improving his technique throughout high school & expanding his musical tastes. Though he grew up on classics like The Beatles, ACDC & Queen, he started listening to more guitar-oriented music, learning rock and metal songs from various bands of the time. Throughout high school and college, metal remained his primary focus, hopping in and out of a number of different bands with friends. He wrote some of original prog metal songs, largely inspired by the bands he was listening to at the time. He was attending Temple University by this time, taking music recording & mixing courses in pursuit of his major in Media Studies and Production.

He was getting settled in, working a regular job after obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2018. He was later invited by a friend to join a band called "August". He accepted and soon got used to gigging regularly at local venues. This afforded him live experience, and vastly improved his improvisation skills. It also greatly broadened his horizons from a guitar playing perspective, since August covered a wide variety of music including classic rock, Motown, pop, and R&B. About a year after joining August, Vince also joined "The Limit", which at the time was a dedicated Eagles tribute band. The first show he played with The Limit was sold out at The Newtown Theatre. The Limit soon evolved and began performing tributes for other bands like The Monkees & The Beatles. Vince still plays with both bands throughout the year, so keep an eye out around Bucks County!

In-between performing with these bands, Vince often found himself helping his friends improve their guitar skills. He loved being able to show his friends new tips and tricks that he had gathered over the years, or just pointing out the fine details in various guitarists’ techniques.

It was from playing so many styles of music over the years that allowed him to identify and appreciate how versatile the guitar can be. Thus, Easy Pickin' was born. But Vince didn't want Easy Pickin' to be a bland music instruction program. He wanted it to be practical.

Lessons built for you.

  • 50% of children who start taking music lessons drop out by the time they're 17.

  • 55% of people who previously played electric guitar, subsequently quit AND 55% of those who subsequently quit say they regret that they no longer play!

  • Only about 34% of American's have never taken any music lessons/classes whatsoever. And of that 34%, half of those people wish they had.

Easy Pickin' offers guitar lessons that put the student's interests first. My goal is to make playing guitar something that's fun and attainable for everyone.
